Meetup 2021 12 10
During the study time, we continued working on our personal projects, and Unity tutorials. We enjoyed sharing our demos at the end of the session and talked about how we got started with XR. Although we come from different backgrounds, we can see our progress since we started this journey.

Noella had started to learn how to write scripts to move objects in the scene, and created a demo. She’s learning very fast! We were thrilled to see her progress from last session. In the future, she wants to focus on learning more about C#.

Maria continued working on her project and focused on Hand Tracking animation for Oculus. She shared with us her demo and the hand tracking interaction she is working on. So cool !

She explained how she started with VR, and her previous research on User Experience. If you want to know more, check her publication about Virtual Work Environment for Collaborative Manga Creation.
Maria explained how the Hand tracking interaction is different in the Oculus SDK vs Unity XR interaction toolkit used previously. This time she is implementing an Animator Component, to create hand gestures using the hand model from Oculus Developer Resources.
During the session, Patricia finished the scripts to manage the user interaction, and started working on improving the UI. Practiced how to use the sprite editor to split images and use them as button graphics, and learned about the transition options for buttons using color tint.
She will continue working on the UI, and got good advice on how to improve it during the Meetup. This is one of the advantages of sharing during the study session. Next, she is planning to deploy her application for Android.

Here are some free Icon resources from Unity Asset Store shared during the session:

This was the last session of 2021, but we are looking forward to continuing studying next year, learning from each other, and sharing our progress.
