Setup
As the name suggests, pygloves consists entirely of Python scripts, which means you have to download and install Python on your computer if you haven't already.
- Make sure you have the
pipandadd Python to environment/PATHcheckboxes ticked.
pygloves depends on several packages to work. The easiest way of installing them is via pip:
- Open Command prompt, and execute the following commands:
pip install numpy
pip install matplotlib
- For usage with LucidGloves, you also need the following:
pip install pyserial
- For usage with the Myo armband, you also need the following:
pip install pyomyo
-
Open
lerp_finger_from_serial.pywith your preferred text editor, such as Notepad++. -
Change
COM_PORTto match the COM port your gloves are on. This is the same value you would use on your Arduino IDE and Opengloves, which you can find using devices manager. -
Make sure
MAX_SERIAL_VALUEis correct. It should be4095for gloves using the ESP32 or1023for gloves running older AVR chips (such as the arduino Nano). -
If your gloves are running an old version of the firmware with legacy encoding (output separated by
&s instead ofA<value>B<value>C<value>(...)), setLEGACY_DECODEtoTrue.
Save the changes and run lerp_finger_from_serial.py. You should now see a visualization of your fingers that responds to the finger movement of the gloves.
