Support Apple Live Photo

Apple's Live Photo uses HEIC format to store static pictures and MOV format to store dynamic pictures. Now HEIC can be supported, but MOV is not supported.

I know it may be a little difficult to support the video format, but can Live Photo support it in some way?

It is not impossible, we have done videos in the past. Issue is, some people asked our servers to process 1+ hour length of videos into a single thumbnail. So do to this properly, we need to stop after the first (key)frame, or it would just consume a lot of bandwidth on the servers (which is cheap, but not unlimited).

This brings up the question; would you want to grab just the first frame of the live photo, or do you need the whole thing animated? Personally, I would just grab the first frame and stop there.

Please assist us with some additional comments on this.

I think it's best to display the 1.5 second of the video by default.

According to Apple's documentation, Live Photo will record the 1.5 seconds before and after the shutter is pressed, so the 1.5 second of the video is the moment the shutter is pressed.

Of course, I think that by adding API parameters, users can customize the moment to stay, or choose whether to animate the video and play it in a loop.
