Which settings have performance cost – is there a list and what's their impact?

I'm assuming that would be software settings…?

Huhh, the app is somewhat feature-rich and there are a lot of settings. What do you mean by "software settings" exactly?

There are settings which control the hardware, and then there are settings like software dimming – I'm curious to know which or any of the settings that could impact display performance / refresh rate etc. . Is there a complete list of settings which are extra "sensitive" on performance
I have 3 displays connected and sometimes feel a lag. Not sure if it is BetterDisplay or someting else.
