Tahoe system OSD slider still not work for external display

I'm using BetterDisplay v4.1.4.

I've installed MonitorControl but it's not running.

I thought BetterDisplay v4 solved this issue? #4677 ? But I can still reproduce it.

Yes, but for that to work the app must be capturing keyboard and OSD must be enabled (default). When the app is properly configured, the OSD appears beneath the BetterDisplay menu icon (if configured as default), not the Control Center icon.

(note: also: when the app menu is open, the OSD should not appear if the app is rendering the OSD and the OSD is positioned under the menubar extra icon in Settings - as default)

@waydabberwwell well I meant the 'system osd'. the osd in your screen shot is the custom osd drawn by BetterDisplay, which has significant differences to the system.

So you just simulated one and can only display brightness correctly on the custom osd, the slider of the system is still not working right?🤔

Well I think maybe the default position should follow CC icon instead of BD icon? (Btw you've observed very carefully indeed!)

I got the naming, percentage and glass issue. It's ok but I'm curious about these things which I think are possible to be solved:

• The text and icon has some kind of Vibrancy Effect(It's more vivid and easier to be read!)(Something like UIViberancyEffect?)
• The slider bar(when hovering on the slider) of the system is not transparent(Do you need screenshot?)

• I think it's better and logically more consistent to use the BD icon (and I also want to make it clear to the user by default that the OSD he is seeing belongs to the app). But the user has the option to simply move the OSD to the top-right, then it won't follow the BD icon. But then the CC icon will not get the highlight, so there will be some discrepancy.
• I just checked on multiple Macs, on current Tahoe versions (26.2 and 26.3) the slider movement is not seem to smooth on keyboard control - I am not sure why this is different on your video :) The system OSD's behavior changed wildly from early betas and throughout minor releases so I needed to update how stuff works several times - as I remember I deliberately had to remove animation from the slider bar. :)
• I'll look at the text colors. :)
• The slider bar transparency issue is a technical limitation related to making the UI items look active as on a key window - which is problematic in macOS when a window is not actually key window.

Ok, I made the text full white, it had a 70% opacity. I think this is how the original looked like earlier (maybe during betas), but it's indeed different now.

• I'm using 26.2. Do you adjust some system preferences like reducing animations? Maybe check other people's mac around you to avoid specific preferences?
• Good job on text!

The most annoying thing to make up a custom OSD is always following changes of system OSD. :(

Nope, settings are standard. Tried on an other user's iMac as well and on Intel. Not sure why the difference. It's a mystery. :)
