Feature request: ability to create alpha versions

Motivation

When working on libraries, most times we do not want to release an official version straight away, due to multiple test phases we have to go through, so we end up relying on incremental alpha version until we decide we want to release an official version.

Requirements

• have the ability to specify a custom suffix e.g. alpha
• if current snapshot does not include any alpha versions, automaticaly create one
• if alpha suffix is provided, everytime a new tag is created, the suffix will be incremented .e.g. alpha-1, alpha-2 etc ...
