Brave Origin Nightly on Windows, first public release.

What this is

Brave's minimalist Origin build is currently Linux-only. This ships it to Windows users inside a managed WSL2 distro, wrapped in a dark tabbed webview with live logs, in-app terminal, and one-click updates. Free, portable, zero installer.

Install

  1. Download Brave.zip (below, ~29 MB)
  2. Right-click → Extract All
  3. Double-click Brave.exe

First launch: ~5 min (one-time Ubuntu + Brave install). Every run after: ~10 seconds.

Downloads

  • Brave.zip (recommended) — complete portable package, extract and run
  • Brave.exe — launcher binary only (~616 KB), for replacing the .exe in an existing install

Requirements

  • Windows 10 (2004+) or Windows 11
  • WSL2 installed (wsl --install)
  • WebView2 Runtime (preinstalled on Win11)
  • ~1.5 GB free disk space
  • Internet on first launch only
