Curious if you've considered making the device self-powered by rectifying the sync signals? Similar to https://www.mikesarcade.com/wiretap/info/SyncInv.pdf
I have it ago and seem to get about 4V from HS and VS but it looks like the current design draws about 20mA which is too high. So thinking something like the ATF16LV8C could be used instead and provide a great operating voltage range.
