Next.js edge runtime does not support full Node.js API. In particular, it doesn't support http module. It does support Fetch API though: https://nextjs.org/docs/app/api-reference/edge.

With Fetch API becoming stable in Node.js 21, it'd be nice to declare axios as an optional dependency and use Fetch API as the default request caller.

Just ran into this - a potentially quicker fix could be to use this adapter that I have used with other libraries that rely on Axios, however would require some work to either pass the adapter in or expose the Axios object.

Hi! I had a similar issue, I wanted to use Mailerlite in Supabase edge functions. So I migrated this library to Deno 2.0 using the native fetch API. I also updated the tests to work with Deno testing and run in the pipeline, and generally made use of stronger return types.

I would be happy to move this forward and publish the package under the Mailerlite org. Maybe it would make sense to completely replace the axios-based library in a new major release, since the native fetch-based solution comes with no runtime dependencies. I have successfully published the package to both NPM and JSR, so it can be used from all javascript runtimes.
