Privacy Policy for prompts.chat Extension

Overview

The prompts.chat Extension ("Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our browser extension.

Information Collection

The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. We only use the following data locally on your device:

  • Theme Preference: Your dark/light mode setting is stored locally in your browser
  • Browser Storage: The extension uses local browser storage only for maintaining your preferences
  • Active Tab Information: The extension needs to know which AI platform you're currently using to provide the correct prompt insertion functionality

Data Usage

  • Theme preferences and settings are stored locally on your device
  • No personal information is collected or stored

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to help improve the extension. This includes:

  • Extension opens: When you open the extension popup or side panel
  • Prompt usage: When you use a prompt (we track the action, not the prompt content)
  • Feature interactions: Basic interactions like filtering, searching, and copying prompts

What we do NOT collect:

  • Personal information or identifiers
  • Prompt content or your conversations
  • Browsing history outside of extension usage
  • Any data from AI platforms you use

Analytics data is anonymous and used solely to understand how the extension is used and identify areas for improvement. You can disable analytics by blocking requests to Google Analytics in your browser.

Permissions

The Extension requires certain permissions to function:

  • scripting: Required to interact with AI platforms' text areas for prompt insertion
  • storage: Required to save your theme preferences locally
  • activeTab/tabs: Required to detect the current AI platform and handle prompt insertions
  • sidePanel: Required to provide the side panel functionality

Third-Party Services

  • AI Platforms: The Extension interacts with various AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) solely for the purpose of inserting prompts. We do not collect or process any data from these interactions.
  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. Google's privacy policy applies to this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • prompts.chat API: The extension fetches prompt data from prompts.chat servers. No personal data is sent in these requests.

Updates

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in this document with an updated date.
