Pluralscape exists to serve one of the most vulnerable communities in digital mental health. Every person who contributes to, interacts with, or uses this project deserves to feel safe, respected, and welcomed — regardless of identity, background, or experience level.
- Treat all community members with respect and empathy
- Provide constructive, actionable feedback
- Accept responsibility for mistakes and learn from them
- Center the needs of the plural community in technical decisions
- Respect the privacy and boundaries of others — especially regarding system identity, diagnosis status, and personal mental health
The following are grounds for immediate action, up to and including permanent removal from the project:
- Bigotry — racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or discrimination of any kind
- Harassment — unwanted contact, intimidation, stalking, or sustained disruption
- Gatekeeping — demanding proof of diagnosis, delegitimizing plural experiences, or policing identity
- Doxxing — sharing private or identifying information without explicit consent
- Sexual harassment — unwelcome sexual attention, comments, or imagery
- Trolling — deliberate provocation, bad-faith arguments, or sustained negativity
- Weaponizing system dynamics — using knowledge of someone's plurality against them
We evaluate contributions on their quality — code correctness, test coverage, readability, and adherence to project standards. We do not police the tools used to write contributions. AI-assisted development is welcome.
This Code of Conduct applies to all project spaces: GitHub repositories, issues, pull requests, discussions, chat channels, and any other communication related to Pluralscape. It also applies when an individual is officially representing the project in public spaces.
Instances of unacceptable behavior can be reported to the project maintainers at [email protected].
All reports will be reviewed promptly and confidentially. Maintainers are obligated to maintain the privacy of the reporter. Enforcement actions may include:
- Warning — a private written notice with an explanation of the violation
- Temporary ban — removal from project spaces for a defined period
- Permanent ban — permanent removal from all project spaces
This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1.
